Coloradans will notice changes at the grocery store beginning January 1. Under Colorado law, plastic bags will no longer be available at the checkout line.
During 2023, a fee was applied to single-use plastic bags in Colorado stores and restaurants. Now in 2024, they will not be available for shopping or carryout. Colorado is banning stores and food retailers from using them in the future. Instead, the only options consumers have will be limited. Recycled paper bags will be available for a fee, or you bring your own reusable totes.
Grocery stores and restaurants that are not following this new law could see a $500 penalty for their first two offenses and $1,000 for any offenses that follow.
Meet your customers’ needs by ordering custom imprinted shopper tote bags. When you offer shopper totes, your customers win! Avoid paying continuing taxes/fees, help reduce pollution, and get your brand and messaging everywhere they use it!
